Grade School Girls*

The Art of Storytelling: After School Series
Creative writing program for 3rd - 5th grade girls*
The Art of Storytelling focuses on finding joy and confidence through writing. Students will learn about the various components of writing stories, and will work on developing their own unique voice through testing out a variety of genres. This process will involve playful writing prompts as well as self-reflection. Each session involves instruction on the "art of storytelling" along with an inspirational reading, a writing prompt, and time to share and receive feedback. We follow the Amherst Writing Method, a methodology rooted in the belief that everyone is a writer, and that all feedback must be positive.
The Intuitive Writing Project is a unique hybrid of creative writing class and personal development program. As young people write their stories and assert their voice, they discover who they are, who they want to become, and how to find their own answers.
To ensure that each student gets personalized attention and mentoring, TIWP will only accept a maximum of 12 students/session.

*Girls includes all gender-expansive youth.

Enrollment occurs quarterly (our schedule is based on the Acalanes District academic calendar) but tuition is pro-rated depending on the day you register. Because we depend upon tuition to run and sustain our org, we cannot offer refunds once the quarter is underway. That said, if your child doesn't absolutely love their first class, just let us know and we can provide a full refund up to 5 days after the first class. We want your child to choose writing purely for the joy of it!

Is your child an aspiring playwright or an intrepid journalist? Is she obsessed with Harry Potter, Keeper of the Lost Cities, or a particular book series? Does she love hiking and poetry, graphic novels and sports. The teachers of The Intuitive Writing Project are excited to create tailor-made classes for small groups of kids. Gather a group of friends together with similar interests and we will match you with the perfect teacher.
As with all our programs, we use the Amherst Writing Method, a methodology rooted in the belief that everyone is a writer, all feedback is focused on the strengths of the writer, and our unique writing voice will continually grow clearer and stronger, the more it is expressed and encouraged.
